VarStec President and Senior Power Systems Engineer

VarStec Vice President and Senior Design Director

VarStec’s founders bring nearly 40 years of experience designing, applying, integrating, commissioning, and advancing medium-voltage reactive compensation equipment. Their work has helped advance the size and complexity of metal-enclosed capacitor banks, harmonic filter banks, and related power-quality equipment for large industrial, mining, and petrochemical applications involving nonlinear loads, rectifiers, harmonics, and significant power-quality challenges. That experience now guides VarStec in developing the next generation of compact, fully integrated reactive compensation equipment for increasingly demanding power-quality applications.

Solutions

VarStec applies the same core power-system principles across all industries while accounting for each site’s load profile, harmonic environment, switching duty, utility requirements, environmental conditions, and operating constraints.

Engineered filtering solutions designed to provide reliable reactive compensation, power factor correction, and harmonic control for medium-voltage power systems.

Fully integrated, metal-enclosed capacitor systems designed to provide highly reliable reactive compensation, power factor correction, and voltage support for heavily loaded medium-voltage power systems.

Combines the speed of a STATCOM with the economy of switched capacitor banks or harmonic filter banks.

VarStec’s MotorVarTM helps start large medium-voltage motors without the added cost and complexity of an adjustable speed drive or RVSS.

Surge protection products to protect motors, generators, transformers, and other medium-voltage equipment from damaging transient overvoltages.

Industries Served

Every industry has its own operating requirements and constraints. VarStec accounts for those differences by applying sound electrical and mechanical design principles to the design and manufacture of practical, application-specific medium-voltage reactive compensation equipment.

Resource Hub

Engineering resources focused on medium-voltage power quality and reactive compensation, including capacitor banks, harmonic filter banks, hybrid STATCOM systems, and transient analysis. For projects involving the design, application, specification, or evaluation of these systems, the Resource Hub brings VarStec’s technical material together in one place.

Interactive tools and calculators supporting system analysis, design, sizing, and performance evaluation.

Focused technical papers on capacitor banks, harmonic filters, STATCOMs, motor starting, and related reactive compensation design and application topics.

Practical answers to common questions on power factor correction, harmonics, capacitor-bank design, protection, switching, filter design, MotorVAR™, and hybrid STATCOM applications.

Detailed guide specifications for medium-voltage capacitor banks, harmonic filter banks, shunt reactors, MotorVAR™ systems, and related power-system studies.
